We can not go against your vet's advice for prescribed medications for a particular condition like heart failure. However, we can say that our recommended supplements and herbal remedies can support your dog's cardiovascular system and have a long history of doing so. I would suggest you consider using the supplements you mentioned because they will help to support the health of the heart (and entire body) while medications do not provide nutritional support. However, we suggest you discuss the use of these supplements with your veterinarian because they may duplicate some of the actions of the medications so dosages of medications may have to be adjusted lower. I would also like to mention that there is a time with heart disease, especially in the initial stages, that providing nutritional support to the cardiovascular system is all that is needed. However, as the disease progresses, medications may become necessary. It is not an either/or situation though as herbal remedies and supplements can often be used along with medications. Just make sure your health care provider is aware of what is being given to your dog as dosages of medications may have to be adjusted as I mentioned earlier. Whether your vet is understanding of your desire to use natural products is another issue and one you may have to deal with if your vet is not on board with your desire for a more holistic approach.
