If I had to recommend one calcium supplement over the other I would probably choose the Natural Bone Calcium. That would be because this supplement is basically dried bone so it provides all of the nutrients found in bone tissue and in the same ratios. I would recommend the Seaweed Calcium for a dog with kidney disease as this calcium supplement has a low level of phosphorus and is therefore easier on weak kidneys. Please keep in mind that most commercial pet food diets are "complete and balanced" meaning they must meet AAFCO standards. This includes sufficient calcium and phosphorus levels and ratio. In the case of Small Batch freeze-dried diets the included chicken backs and necks will provide sufficient calcium and phosphorus. So, when feeding a commercial prepared diet no calcium supplementation is required. You only need to add your own calcium source when home-preparing your dog's food. I would also like to make you aware that because freeze-dried diets are so very dry, we recommend placing them in a blender/food processor dry first. This will help to break the food up so when water is added it will rehydrate more thoroughly. And thank you for being such a good customer, I hope your dog is doing well!
