Yes, the Kidney Tonic is safe for a dog that had seizures in the past. Please note that on the Internet there is controversy concerning the herb ginkgo biloba and seizures. There is some research that indicates compounds in ginkgo seeds when consumed in high concentrations can cause seizures in susceptible individuals. However in our Kidney Tonic formula we use ginkgo leaf which is very safe to consume and does not share the concerns of ginkgo seeds. We do not recommend the use of a "kidney diet" for dogs in the early stages of kidney disease. This is because these diets are very low protein and will contribute to the drastic loss of lean muscle and heart muscle function. Reserve these diets for very end stage disease.
