Congratulations on ditching the flea and tick "medications" (really pesticides). Feeding a species appropriate, whole food diet is a great idea as the high carbs/starches in commercial foods make dogs and cats more attractive to fleas. We feed our dogs this way and we never have a flea issue. The Internal Powder is a great idea as this will improve the overall health of your dog especially the skin and blood making him more resistant to biting insects. The Buck Mountain Parasite Dust actually contains diatomaceous earth along with some herbs and is applied to your dog's coat. The diatomaceous earth alone can also be applied to your dog's coat, but it is very light alone so will probably be too dusty. You can apply the diatomaceous earth to your carpets by sprinkling on the carpet and then using a brush so it goes deep into the carpet fibers. I would leave this on for two weeks as flea eggs can hatch up to this period of time. I would use a mask when I apply the powder as it can irritate the lungs, but it is not a serious health threat so don't be overly concerned, just be careful. I wouldn't apply it to the dog bed, as the dogs lay and move around in their beds they can disturb the powder. For dog beds and sofas etc... I would use a vacuum. When it is time to vacuum up the powder it is recommended to use a shop vac or a vacuum with a HEPA filter. Don't forget to treat the outside and for this I would recommend beneficial nematodes found online.
