No, runny stool is not normal when using Tick Protection, so there is something too which your particular dog is sensitive. All animals are individuals and can react differently to items in their diets, so starting slow, as you are, is a good idea. For our dogs we just start adding the Tick Protection to their food in the Spring, actually providing the suggested dosage 2x daily for the first two weeks or so as we suggest, and there is not the slightest issue. Your dog's digestive system may need time to adjust to this new herbal remedy as you mentioned. I would theorize that there is an imbalance of beneficial flora or an inflammation in your dog's digestive tract that is making him more sensitive to this remedy. This type of occurrence is called "subclinical" which means an imbalance that is not severe enough to present with obvious symptoms.
