Glucosamine sulfate is shellfish derived compared with glucosamine hydrochloride that is typically derived from corn. It is my understanding that glucosamine sulfate is the joint supplement with the most, and initial, research. It also incorporates a sulfur molecule that is essential for joint health and increases absorption. The corn used for glucosamine hydrochloride is going to be GMO and also likely to contain glyphosate (a systemic herbicide) that is so heavily used on corn - both of which are not good for animals or people. Research that I have read indicates that glucosamine sulfate is the better absorbed of the two, so there is a discrepancy there with the research you have viewed. Glucosamine hydrochloride was basically developed to meet the demands of vegetarians and others with objections to shellfish which are not usually concerns for carnivores like dogs and cats. We have believed for some time, due to our research and experience using the supplement, that glucosamine sulfate is the better choice for joint health. However, if you believe otherwise that is okay and perhaps you can try a little experiment of your own. Try using both types of glucosamine and track results to see if you notice any difference between the two. We would appreciate you getting back in touch with us via email with any results.
