No, other chlorophyll supplements that contain mint will not be as healthy for your dog as the ChlorOxygen supplement we provide. First of all, mints are not considered to be healthy when taken internally by dogs or cats in quantities larger than a small amount because they may cause gastrointestinal distress. Secondly, ChlorOxygen uses a fescue grass as its source of chlorophyll, while most chlorophyll supplements found online will use alfalfa as the source for their chlorophyll. Unfortunately, alfalfa contains significant amounts of vitamin K that can increase blood clotting. Animals with autoimmune anemia will often have high amounts of platelets that contribute to blood clotting and the addition of significant dietary vitamin K can cause a health risk to dogs and cats with regenerative anemia. Alternatively, alfalfa contains natural coumarins that can act as anticoagulants with varying studies offering different perspectives on their blood thinning activity. Due to both of these concerns it is best that an animal with IMHA avoid the use of significant amounts of concentrated alfalfa as a dog or cat might obtain from certain chlorophyll supplements found online.
