I think if you do for this new dog what you do for your other dogs he will probably be okay. Esophagitis and gastroenteritis are just big words vets use to denote inflammation in the digestive tract. He most likely doesn't need anything other than proper supplementation and a healthy diet. In my opinion and experience the medications you mentioned in your question will make the situation and your newly adopted dog's health worse.
