Liver Glandular is approximately 20% protein and about .3% phosphorus by weight. Organ meat has about twice the amount of phosphorus when compared with muscle meat. Elevated liver enzyme levels indicate the liver is struggling to perform its detoxifying work leading to cellular damage within the liver and the release of enzymes into the bloodstream. Instead of Liver Glandular I would suggest our Liver Tonic and Milk Thistle Seed to help cleanse the liver and repair liver cells. Low protein diets for animals with kidney disease are generally not recommended until the very end stage of this disease. Providing low protein too early can lead to unwanted side effects such as muscle loss and damage to the heart muscle.
