I would prefer to have you work with Kassie rather than try to fully address this more complicated issue in this forum. Please use the form on our Contact Us page to provide us with more information so we can better help you. Often, veterinarians place dogs and cats with kidney disease on low protein diets. This is not the correct approach at least initially. Since these prescription diets are so low in protein and are overall nutrient deficient, dogs will begin having digestive issues from nausea caused by an empty stomach or lack of proper nutrition called bilious vomiting. We provide an educational video on Bilious Vomiting in Dogs that you may be interested in viewing to learn more.
