While there are animals that may have low red blood cells in conjunction with low folate levels, low folate alone does not definitively indicate the presence of anemia. Folic acid can certainly contribute to the formation of red blood cells, however when we see animals suffering low folate, we primarily see this happen in animals with conditions such as malabsorption, pancreatic insufficiency or nutrient deficiency. If your animal's blood levels are within normal range then that would indicate your animal is not anemic. Our Systemic Enzyme formula contains anti-fibrolytic benefits to help with the removal of inflammatory chemicals and debris in the blood. Due to these properties we note that we do not recommend Systemic Enzymes to be taken if an animal is anemic.
