Often in beginning stages of heart issues natural recommendations and supplements suffice and medications may not be needed. However, as an animal’s heart condition worsens medications may become necessary, as they are in this situation. Our recommended supplements are safe to be used alongside medications that may be prescribed by your veterinarian but please keep in mind that because the Heart Tonic overlaps with some of the effects of the prescription medication, mainly its vasodilating effects, you may monitor your dog's blood pressure (there are dog blood pressure monitors available for home use). If you notice your dog's blood pressure being lower than it should be then you can discuss possible medication dosage adjustments and give them the readings you have been taking at home to support this course of action. We cannot legally advise you on the dosing or use of prescription medication and so you will need your vet to determine correct dosage.
