It is not "imperative", but preferable to cycle an herbal remedy like the Heart Tonic to provide periods of rest. Cycling an herbal remedy in this way can help to prevent the body from developing a tolerance to a specific herb or formula helping to maintain the efficacy of the remedy over time. Providing a natural diuretic may be able to help lower diuretic medication. Even though there is some dandelion leaf in the Heart Tonic formula, you would need more to act as a sufficient diuretic especially if a dog is at the point where they need medication. Purchase some organic dandelion leaf and nettle leaf herbs. Make a strong tea by adding one teaspoon of each herb to one cup of boiling water and place in a sealed mason jar or similar overnight. Provide one to two tablespoons to your dog 2-3x daily per 10 lbs of weight. You can use this formula to make extra tea and this can be placed in the fridge for up to three days.
